Viking dishwashers
Viking dishwasher repair
We repair Viking dishwashers in Bay Area homes — standing water, dishes coming out dirty, leaks, doors that won’t latch and cycles that stop with a code. Most problems trace back to the filter, the drain path, the water supply or one pump.

Short answer
The most common Viking dishwasher repairs are a clogged filter or drain path (water left in the tub), a weak circulation or drain pump (poor cleaning or no draining), a water inlet valve (not filling), and door seals or latch problems (leaks, won’t start). Typical repairs run $320–$620 for a pump, with the $89 service call waived when you approve the repair.
Problems we fix on Viking dishwashers

- Not cleaning wellDirty filter, blocked spray arms, low water temperature, a weak circulation pump or an inlet valve that under-fills.
- LeakingWorn door gasket, loose or cracked hose connections, inlet valve, or suds from the wrong detergent.
- Won’t start or stops mid-cycleDoor latch or switch, control fault, a float switch tripped by water in the base.
- Dishes not dryingRinse aid empty, heating element or its control, or cycle settings.
- Code or flashing lightsOn 3 and 5 Series models, E:01 means overflow or leak and E:02 means no water supply. Older 450 Series models flash a two-number code on the wash lights. See Viking error codes.
Try these before you book
- Clean the filtersRinse the removable filter in the bottom of the tub as your manual shows and reseat it firmly. Some Viking models have a primary filter the manual says not to remove. Never run the dishwasher without its filters.
- Check the drain connectionIf the dishwasher drains through a garbage disposal, run the disposal first. On a newly installed disposal, the knockout plug inside the inlet must have been removed. The drain hose needs a high loop under the counter and must not be kinked.
- Run the hot water firstRun the kitchen tap until it is hot before starting a cycle, so the first fill is hot water rather than cold from the pipes.
- Spin the spray armsTake the racks out and make sure the arms turn freely and the holes are not blocked by seeds or glass.
- Use the right detergentUse dishwasher detergent only. Hand dish soap makes foam that can leak from the door.

Questions Viking owners ask us
Why is there water left in the bottom of my Viking dishwasher?
A small amount of water around the filter area is normal on many dishwashers. Standing water above the filter after a cycle usually means a clogged filter or a blocked drain path; if both are clear, the drain pump is the next suspect.
Why are my dishes still dirty?
Start with the filter and the spray arms. Then check that the water reaching the dishwasher is hot. If those are fine, a weak circulation pump or an inlet valve that is not filling enough is the usual cause.
Is it worth repairing a Viking dishwasher?
Pump, valve, latch and gasket repairs are almost always worth it on a dishwasher with a sound tub. When the tub itself is cracked or the control and pump fail together on an older unit, replacement is often the better buy.
Do you install new dishwashers?
We focus on repair. If replacement makes more sense, we will tell you why and what to look for in a new unit.
