Estate kitchens: what changes on the visit
Hillsborough requires half-acre lots, Atherton one acre, and Portola Valley far more. Homes on those lots tend to have big kitchens with 48- and 60-inch ranges or separate rangetops and wall ovens, paired column refrigerators and freezers, and often an outdoor kitchen with a built-in grill.
Two practical things help us here. First, gate codes and driveway instructions — long private drives and gated entries are common, and a technician held at a gate delays your repair. Second, the location of any second kitchen, pantry refrigeration or outdoor unit, so we can look at everything that is acting up in one visit.

A note for Palo Alto homes
Palo Alto is the one Peninsula city where gas and electricity come from the City of Palo Alto Utilities rather than PG&E. If you ever smell gas, leave the house and call 911 and the city’s 24-hour gas line at (650) 329-2579.
Many Palo Alto homes are Eichlers, built on concrete slabs with radiant-heat pipes inside the floor. When a range is reinstalled we re-engage the existing anti-tip bracket; if a new bracket has to be anchored into a slab floor, we discuss it with you first rather than drilling blind.
