What San Francisco kitchens mean for a Viking repair
Around 60% of San Francisco’s buildings were built before 1940, and the city’s Viking ranges and built-ins have usually been fitted into older houses and flats during a remodel. That shapes how a repair goes.
Stairs, hills and parking
On Telegraph Hill some homes can only be reached on foot by the public steps, and Russian Hill, Bernal Heights and Potrero Hill have streets steep enough to matter when a technician is carrying a heavy part. If your home has a long stair climb or a tricky parking situation, tell us when you book — it helps us plan the visit and bring everything in one trip.
Tight kitchens, heavy equipment
A 36- or 48-inch Viking range in a Victorian kitchen often sits between finished cabinets on an old floor. When a repair means sliding the range out, we protect the floor and the cabinet edges first, and we check the anti-tip bracket is re-engaged before we leave.
Condos and apartment buildings
Some buildings have rules for service visits, such as elevator reservations. Let us know about your building’s requirements when you book so the visit is not held up at the front desk.

Can I keep repairing a gas Viking in San Francisco?
Yes. San Francisco’s all-electric ordinance applies to new buildings whose permits were filed on or after June 1, 2021; the city says it does not affect alterations to existing buildings that already have gas piping. A 2025 ordinance reaches only major renovations that also replace a whole-building heating or hot-water system. Repairing your existing gas range, rangetop or cooktop is not covered by either. More on the local rules on our service areas page.

Same-day or next-day appointments are often available. Calling in the morning gives you the best chance of a same-day slot.

Yes. Many older Viking ranges are still repairable with current genuine parts. When a part is no longer made, we tell you before any work and explain the options.
What does a Viking repair cost in San Francisco?
The same as everywhere we work: an $89 service call, waived with repair, and typical single-part repairs of roughly $220–$720. See Viking repair costs.
